    The Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Kasikornbank jointly promote the application of new technologies to meet the needs of Chinese tourists and will launch the Thai e-Visa system (phase I) in China to make visa application more convenient. It will be firstly used in Beijing on February 15 and promoted to other cities in China from March 1.


    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand has made every effort to provide convenience for foreign tourists travelling to Thailand. The Thai e-Visa system has been developed by applying the latest technology. The Chinese tourists traveling to Thailand can fill in and submit visa applications online anytime and anywhere via the Internet. The operation is convenient and fast. Only three steps will be required: Step 1: Log in www.thaievisa.go.th, register, fill in the information and make an appointment; Step 2: Pay the visa fee through a secure and reliable multi-channel electronic payment system; Step 3: Submit the passport to the embassy or Consulate General according to the date and time of the appointment in Step 1 so that the staff can approve and paste a visa sticker on the passport.


    Last year, Bangkok, Thailand ranked the first in the survey of "the most frequently visited cities in the world in 2018” conducted by MasterCard. According to the report of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the revenue of the tourist industry of Thailand totaled more than USD 75 billion in 2017, ranking the fourth in the world. Statistics showed that Chinese tourists were an important factor for the successful performance of the tourist industry of Thailand last year. Among more than 37 million foreign tourists entering Thailand in 2018, the number of Chinese tourists reached 10.5 million, accounting for about one third of all foreign tourists. In particular, more than 5.9 million tourists applied for visas through 10 embassies and consulates of Thailand in China, accounting for 60% of the total visas issued to Chinese tourists.
